Time Travel, Predicting the Future and Surviving in a Parallel Universe

New processor architectures are leaving us with no other option than to master parallel programming techniques. In this talk we explore what the JVM based languages has to offer in this area, along with the frameworks and libraries that simplifies parallel or multi-threaded design.

In this talk we will discuss some real world situations using a problem-solution theme. Some of the topics that will be covered are:

- Parallel programming fundamental concepts and best practices

-  Java 7 Fork-Join framework

- Pitfalls and design mistakes and how to avoid them

- A tour through some of the important frameworks that supports parallel programming including Typesafe’s Akka and Google’s Guava

- Solutions in languages other than Java for parallel problems and their frameworks
